Laborer I – Construction Materials Handling

About the role

Mortenson is seeking a Laborer I to support construction crews by preparing, handling, and supplying materials on site. The role involves a mix of physical tasks, equipment operation, and teamwork to keep projects moving efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment and materials.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5x7x16) and staging; level ground for scaffolding.
• Mix, tend, and transport mortar and grout.
• Lift, move, set, and shovel concrete; vibrate concrete as needed.
• Perform general cleanup, debris removal, sweeping, and washing.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Completed a two‑year apprenticeship.
• Construction experience preferred.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements.
• Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lb (with assistance for heavier loads).

Required skills

• Power hand tools (drills, vibrators, pumps, jackhammers).
• Non‑powered hand tools.
• Operation of forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies.
• Scaffolding erection and dismantling.
