Laboratory Technician I – Quality Assurance

About the role

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician I to join our Geismar, LA site. The role supports quality assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates and finished goods, ensuring compliance with BASF’s quality policy.

Key responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products according to internal and external specifications.
• Generate and evaluate quality data, supporting continuous improvement of laboratory and plant processes.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and verify laboratory equipment while ensuring proper documentation.
• Utilize software tools such as Lotus Notes, LabWare, SAP, and Microsoft Office for data entry, reporting, and traceability.
• Collaborate with the Lab Supervisor and production personnel to identify and implement process improvements.

Required profile

• Associate degree (2‑year) in Chemistry or a related analytical field.
• 0‑2 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing laboratory environment.
• Basic understanding of general chemistry and instrument measurement techniques.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow safety procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Lotus Notes.
• Experience using LabWare LIMS.
• Working knowledge of SAP.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
