Laboratory Technician I – Neuroscience Research (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Department of Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutics at Texas A&M University Health Science Center is seeking a part‑time Technician I to support laboratory research in the Alex Lab. This grant‑funded position involves conducting experiments, recording observations, and assisting with data management.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct experiments and technical procedures in the neuroscience laboratory.
• Assist with planning and supervising technical operations.
• Perform complex chemical and physical analyses following standard protocols.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including computer‑controlled instruments.
• Supervise care of research animals when required.
• Collect, clean, and analyze data; prepare summary tables, figures, and research outputs.
• Prepare reagents, monitor equipment functionality, and ensure laboratory safety.
• Maintain inventory, order supplies, and keep detailed records of observations and measurements.

Required profile

• Ability to conduct laboratory experiments and follow standard operating procedures.
• Attention to detail for accurate data recording and documentation.
• Willingness to work part‑time in a grant‑funded research environment.
