Laboratory Technician – Community Supervision

About the role

The Department of Community Supervision (DCS) in Georgia is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support its drug‑testing program. Working in a state‑run lab, you will prepare media and reagents, run routine analyses of urine specimens, and help ensure the integrity of results used in parole and probation decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare media, reagents, and supplies for routine laboratory analysis.
• Perform urine drug and alcohol screening tests under supervision.
• Operate, calibrate, and assist in maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Collaborate with counselors and supervision officers to deliver timely test results.
• Complete laboratory aide/operator certification training and testify in court when required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to lab integrity.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed for testing schedules.

Required skills

• Basic laboratory techniques for sample preparation and analysis.
