Laboratory Technician Apprentice

About the role

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join BASF’s Performance Materials team in Sparta, Tennessee. This paid apprenticeship combines on‑the‑job training with a BASF‑specific classroom program, allowing you to earn while you learn the fundamentals of quality control in polymer production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform physical and chemical testing on polymer samples according to sample plans.
• Calibrate, maintain, and operate laboratory equipment and molding machines for test specimen preparation.
• Record test results accurately and enter data into quality‑control databases.
• Develop and document QC procedures, policies, and test methods.
• Assist in maintaining the Quality Control system and laboratory equipment.
• Conduct non‑routine chemical and physical tests as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and work 12‑hour fixed shifts (day or night, including weekends and holidays).
• Willingness to attend classroom training while working on‑site.

Required skills

• Laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance.
• Molding machine operation.
• Chemical and physical testing techniques.
• Quality‑control data entry and documentation.
