Laboratory Team Lead

About the role

SGS is seeking a Laboratory Team Lead to oversee analytical testing of organic and inorganic substances for consumer product testing. The role combines hands‑on chemistry work with leadership of a small team of chemists, ensuring high‑quality results and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate chemical and physical properties of various substances using official methods and SOPs.
• Conduct sample preparation, extraction, digestion and instrument‑based analysis independently.
• Lead the team in analytical techniques, data interpretation and technical problem‑solving.
• Train new laboratory personnel and provide ongoing coaching.
• Supervise sample receipt, logging, and transport processes.
• Communicate with clients about analysis results, technical solutions and any issues.
• Maintain laboratory certificates of analysis and ensure compliance with QA and safety manuals.
• Support regional laboratory manager with recommendations for upgrades and participate in local marketing activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in a regulated commercial laboratory environment.
• At least 2 years of protocol and report writing experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Experience with LNG testing is required.
