Laboratory Coordinator II – Marine Genomics Lab

About the role

The Marine Genomics Lab at Texas A&M University‑Corpus Christi is seeking a Laboratory Coordinator II to manage daily laboratory operations, support research projects, and ensure compliance with standard procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer routine laboratory functions, including ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and processing vouchers (60% effort).
• Perform molecular genetics techniques such as DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR, and construct next‑generation sequencing (NGS) libraries (30% effort).
• Develop and modify protocols for NGS, collect and analyze field and laboratory data, and prepare figures or tables for reports and manuscripts.
• Maintain laboratory compliance with standard operating procedures and best practices (10% effort).
• Assist students and department members, handle mail distribution, and perform other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Experience with benchwork and laboratory inventory management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
