About the role
The Arkansas Archeological Survey is seeking an Extra Help Assistant to support its laboratory operations. This temporary, fixed‑term position involves processing archaeological collections, ensuring artifacts are accurately recorded and prepared for storage.
Key responsibilities
- Count, weigh, label, and box artifacts according to archival standards.
- Enter artifact data into the collection database using a tablet/iPad.
- Perform minimal identification and cataloguing of artifacts.
- Update older collections to current archival practices, including sorting, bagging, and labeling.
- Assist with problem‑solving tasks related to collection management.
Required profile
- Ability to lift up to 40 lb occasionally.
- Comfort using a tablet for online data entry.
- Attention to detail and basic problem‑solving skills.
- Interest in archaeological materials and preservation.
