Lab Support Technician II – Clinical Lab Support

About the role

The Laboratory Support Technician II provides essential front‑line support for specimen receipt, verification, and processing in a high‑volume clinical laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and verify specimens, ensuring correct collection, labeling, and tube type.
• Sort specimens, load racks onto automation lines, and scan them into the EPIC system.
• Enter orders and add‑on tests in EPIC for outside institutions and process timed urine, mail‑in, reference, VA and ACH specimens.
• Answer phone calls regarding results, fax reports, and specimen collection; reconcile packing lists and process requisitions.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of laboratory experience.
• Ability to follow oral instructions, read and write.
• Basic computer and keyboard skills with telephone etiquette.
• Strong customer service orientation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the EPIC laboratory information system.
