Lab Service Worker - Welding

About the role

This part‑time, non‑benefited position supports the Welding and Joining Technology Program at Gwinnett Technical College. The role reports to the Program Director, works at least 19 hours per week and pays $16.64 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Sign out and return welding tools to students, organize the tool room, cut and arrange materials.
• Maintain inventory of consumable parts, notify the Program Director when stock is low, and clean the welding lab as needed.
• Assist with routine tool‑room activities and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (minimum).
• Technical competence in welding technology, especially GTAW (Aluminum and Stainless) and GMAW processes.
• Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and repair machine parts.
• Knowledge of hand/power tools, gases, and welding consumables.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and communicate effectively.
