Lab Assistant – Welding & Joining (MT&T-1)

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Lab Assistant to support its Welding & Joining Technology program across multiple campuses. Working under faculty supervision, you will help maintain a safe, well‑stocked laboratory environment while assisting students in hands‑on learning.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and perform routine welding laboratory tasks following detailed procedures.
• Maintain and clean welding equipment and ensure it is ready for use.
• Manage inventory, requisition supplies, and order instructional materials.
• Assist faculty with classroom instruction and supervise students during lab sessions.
• Tutor or mentor students, enforce safety protocols, and perform general lab upkeep.

Required profile

• Successful completion of courses related to welding and joining technology or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: Diploma or Associate degree in Welding & Joining Technology or a related field.

What we offer

• $18.00 per contact hour (hourly rate).
