Kindergarten to 8th Grade Judaic Studies Substitute Teacher

About the role

Sinai Akiba Academy is looking for qualified substitute teachers to cover K‑8 Judaic Studies classes during the 2025‑2026 academic year. The substitute will step in when the regular teacher is unavailable, ensuring continuity of instruction and a safe, engaging learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the regular teacher’s lesson plans to deliver consistent instruction.
• Manage classroom behavior, encourage participation, and maintain a positive atmosphere.
• Supervise students in hallways, during recess, lunch, and dismissal.
• Provide a written daily report to the regular teacher.
• Utilize school technology such as JagNet, Google Workspace, and Paylocity for instruction, feedback, and communication.
• Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors or the Head of School.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably with young learners.
• Fluent Hebrew speaking ability (basic/intermediate acceptable for teaching assistant roles).
• Knowledge of Torah, Jewish holidays, and Jewish history.
• Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 20 lb, including children when necessary.
• Responsive, responsible, and able to communicate clearly.
