Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant – Cadwell, GA

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a dedicated Juvenile Correctional Lieutenant to lead a unit at the Cadwell Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC). In this supervisory position, you will help create a safe, therapeutic, and educational environment for detained youth while guiding staff to uphold the highest standards of care and security.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain custody, security, and care of youth in accordance with department policies and SOPs.
• Supervise, plan, and assign work for subordinate staff, acting as shift supervisor.
• Conduct contraband searches, inspections, and manage inventories of keys, tools, and equipment.
• Complete administrative paperwork, maintain records, and prepare reports.
• Enforce facility policies, rules, and regulations, ensuring a safe and disciplined environment.
• Provide direct support, guidance, and structure to detained youth, promoting pro‑social behavior.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED plus one year as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP223) or equivalent, or two years of military service at E‑5 rank or higher.
• Must obtain and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within six months of hire.
• Valid driver’s license.
