Junior Software Engineer

About the role

Join MetLife’s Global Technology team as a Junior Software Engineer. You will work on full‑stack applications that support digital solutions for customers worldwide, leveraging AI and modern cloud technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in gathering and refining product requirements and user stories.
• Support design, development, testing, and deployment of UI, API, and data components.
• Participate in peer code reviews and solution design reviews.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents and service requests.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify innovative solutions.
• Contribute to integrating AI capabilities such as GenAI APIs and ML models into applications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, conferred before the start date.
• Internship or academic project experience in software development or AI/ML.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and deliver high‑quality software.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, COBOL).
• Basic understanding of software design principles and coding best practices.
• Familiarity with database concepts, design, and development.
• Experience with cloud‑native platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and automated testing.
• Exposure to AI/ML integration (GenAI APIs, ML models).
