Junior Penetration Tester

About the role

MageByte is looking for a Junior Penetration Tester to join its offensive security team. This full‑time, remote position is ideal for an early‑career professional who already holds a hands‑on certification and wants to grow into a full penetration testing role.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior operators throughout the engagement lifecycle, from reconnaissance to post‑exploitation.
• Conduct web application testing against the OWASP Top 10 and support assessments of networks, cloud environments, and Active Directory.
• Identify, validate, and document vulnerabilities with reproducible proof‑of‑concept evidence.
• Prepare clear, risk‑ranked findings reports that include actionable remediation guidance.
• Follow defined methodologies, rules of engagement, and re‑test remediated findings as needed.
• Develop skills in internal labs and contribute to research, tooling, and workflow improvements.

Required profile

• OSCP certification (required).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent practical experience.
• Eligibility to work remotely within the United States.
• Strong curiosity and self‑directed learning demonstrated through labs, CTFs, bug bounties, or home projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Burp Suite, Nmap, and Metasploit.
• Comfort working in Linux environments such as Kali or Parrot OS.
• Scripting ability in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Understanding of application security concepts, including the OWASP Top 10.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
