Junior Buyer – Procurement & Planning

About the role

API Heat Transfer is seeking a Junior Buyer to join its Buffalo operations team. Reporting to the Procurement and Planning Manager, you will support the acquisition of key commodities that keep our heat‑exchanger production running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Source suppliers and negotiate pricing for assigned commodities.
• Generate accurate purchase orders based on demand from the MRP system.
• Maintain supplier relationships, expedite or reschedule orders as needed.
• Establish stocking levels, reorder points and manage inventory dollars and turns.
• Research alternative products or suppliers to achieve cost savings or product improvements.
• Process material substitutions and resolve supplier discrepancies.
• Maintain up‑to‑date records of suppliers, products and pricing.
• Review shortage reports and take corrective actions to ensure on‑time production supply.

Required profile

• Interest in process improvement and Lean manufacturing principles.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple purchase orders.
• Junior‑level experience or academic background in procurement, supply chain or related field.

Required skills

• Familiarity with MRP systems.
• Experience with ERP or procurement software for purchase order processing.
