IT Systems Engineer

About the role

Blessey Marine Services is seeking a full‑time IT Systems Engineer to support its modern inland tank barge and towing vessel fleet. Based on‑site in Harahan, LA, you will ensure the reliability and security of both office and field IT infrastructure that underpins safe marine operations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows servers, Active Directory, user accounts, backups, patching and security configurations.
• Monitor system performance, availability and respond to incidents, including after‑hours emergencies.
• Provide hands‑on technical support for hardware, software and network issues across the organization.
• Configure and maintain network equipment such as switches, firewalls, VPNs and wireless networks, including connectivity for vessels and remote sites.
• Collaborate with vendors, assist in IT projects, upgrades and document procedures.
• Implement cybersecurity best practices, endpoint protection and data‑protection measures.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in IT concepts, infrastructure and best practices.
• Hands‑on system administration experience with Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Practical network administration skills (switches, firewalls, VPN, wireless).
• Experience in an on‑site, operations‑focused environment; marine, transportation or industrial experience a plus.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and communicate effectively with non‑technical stakeholders.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
