IT Systems Administrator

About the role

The IT Systems Administrator ensures the effective operation of the organization’s network, hardware and software. The role involves designing, testing, evaluating and managing information technology systems while maintaining contact with customers and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows servers within the network, handling installation, configuration, maintenance and regular system updates.
• Manage system backup functions and design disaster recovery plans for operating systems, databases, networks, servers and applications.
• Maintain and monitor VMware environments.
• Analyze, troubleshoot and support the IP phone system and Unity Voicemail.
• Administer Microsoft Exchange email system, including server setup, on‑call support, capacity planning and issue resolution.
• Install and maintain SQL database servers.
• Monitor and support the help‑desk ticketing system.
• Allocate server storage, configure Active Directory, enforce security policies, and manage hardware and software issues.
• Conduct network asset management, inventory maintenance and software improvement scheduling.
• Provide training to colleagues, explain procedures and respond to public inquiries.

Required profile

• Occasionally assigns tasks to other employees and provides technical guidance.
• Strong communication skills for oral and written interactions with staff, customers and the public.
• Ability to create and edit documentation, reports and proposals.
