IT Support Technician 1 – TSD Intern Positions

About the role

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking motivated IT Support Technician 1 interns to join its Technology Services Division. Interns will provide first‑line technical assistance to agency staff across multiple locations in Western Washington, gaining hands‑on experience in a professional IT environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, replace components, and test equipment.
• Maintain incident and request status using WSDOT’s IT Service Management (ITSM) system.
• Install, reload, or reconfigure software via phone, on‑site visits, or remote collaboration.
• Image desktop and laptop workstations following established procedures.
• Perform basic digital sanitation of storage devices using approved tools and generate sanitation certificates.
• Travel to support locations as directed and document IT‑relevant spaces.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation and effective communication skills.
• Basic technical troubleshooting ability and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
