IT Data Scientist – Healthcare Analytics

About the role

The UHealth IT Data Scientist will apply advanced data‑science techniques to support clinical, operational, financial and technical decision‑making across the University of Miami Health System. Working within the Information Technology & Systems Department, the role blends independent initiative with cross‑functional collaboration to turn complex data into actionable insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy predictive and prescriptive models for diverse healthcare use cases.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data insights into business‑aligned recommendations.
• Manage the full machine‑learning lifecycle, from data acquisition through model training and production deployment.
• Support the use of external machine‑learning models and help users interpret model outputs.
• Communicate technical results to non‑technical audiences and create documentation for data extraction and analysis.
• Maintain and enhance data products such as dashboards and interactive reports in partnership with data‑engineering teams.
• Participate in cross‑functional teams to embed data‑science methods into workflows and technical solutions.
• Promote data‑science best practices and contribute to educational initiatives across the enterprise.
