IRB Analyst

About the role

The IRB Analyst provides operational support to Georgetown University's Institutional Review Board (IRB) through the Office of Human Subject Protections. Acting as a liaison between the IRB and the research community, the analyst ensures that human subjects are protected while facilitating compliant research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the confidential review and approval process for research involving human subjects.
• Interpret and apply federal regulations, institutional policies, and ethical standards to research proposals.
• Collaborate with IRB chairs, members, and the broader research community to address compliance and ethical considerations.
• Coordinate with the Office of Research Quality Assurance and Office of Research Oversight on compliance and conflict‑of‑interest issues.
• Maintain documentation and reporting for the Office of Human Subject Protections.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in ethics, science, engineering, healthcare administration, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience with research ethics, human subjects review, or complex regulatory environments.
• Demonstrated ability to balance regulatory compliance with facilitation of research.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with researchers, IRB members, and oversight offices.
