Investigator 3 – Law & Public Safety (NJ Office of Homeland Security)

About the role

The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness is hiring an Investigator 3 to join the Counterintelligence Unit within the Operations Bureau. This full‑time, at‑will position supports the state’s mission to detect and deter terrorist plots, sabotage of critical infrastructure, and hostile intelligence activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct investigative work supporting criminal investigations related to national security threats and critical infrastructure.
• Review, analyze, and summarize documents and intelligence to produce clear investigative findings.
• Research foreign influence activities, economic interference, disinformation campaigns, insider threats, and non‑state actor threats.
• Prepare and deliver defensive briefings on the national security threat landscape to state, county, and local partners.

Required profile

• Strong background in counterintelligence or national security investigations.
• Advanced degree in international relations, security studies, criminal justice, or a related field.
• Proficiency in one or more foreign languages.

Required skills

• Investigative research and analysis.
