International Banking Specialist (Entry Level)

About the role

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of the Comptroller and Global Financial Services is seeking an entry‑level International Banking Specialist to support its Global Disbursing Operations. You will work with teams in Bangkok, Charleston, and Paris to ensure smooth processing of electronic funds transfers, check payments, and foreign‑currency transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile foreign‑currency bank account balances and statements.
• Review bank fees and charges, prepare bank charge and interest vouchers.
• Manage banking administrative functions and serve as the primary point of contact for banks.
• Update the Regional Financial Management System with new and closed accounts.
• Conduct periodic bank reviews to verify authorized signatories and compliance with agreements.
• Submit monthly financial reports on schedule.
• Build professional relationships with bank officials and maintain U.S. Disbursing Officer accounts.
• Research transactions, identify errors or potential fraud, and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree (or equivalent experience) with at least two years in banking or financial management.
• Ability to obtain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or Secret security clearance.
• Strong oral and written communication, analytical problem‑solving, and attention to detail.
• Self‑motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing time effectively.
