Internal Controls Analyst – State Accounting Office

About the role

The State Accounting Office (SAO) is seeking an Internal Controls Analyst to support statewide financial reporting and internal control initiatives. You will work within the Statewide Accounting & Reporting (SWAR) division, helping Georgia agencies improve their financial reporting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, update, and monitor internal control tools and guidance based on the Green Book standards.
• Assist agencies in assessing financial reporting risks and performing periodic risk assessments.
• Conduct data‑analytics reviews at both entity and statewide levels.
• Collaborate with agency management to monitor control effectiveness and identify weaknesses.
• Support the development of accounting policies and contribute to special projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• At least one year of professional accounting experience.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
• Residency and work authorization in the State of Georgia.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
