Intern Pharmacist

About the role

Foundation Health Partners is seeking an Intern Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in Alaska. This six‑month, full‑time internship provides hands‑on experience in a hospital setting, working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with packaging, distribution, and record‑keeping of pharmaceutical supplies.
• Prepare compounded, intravenous, total parenteral nutrition, and chemotherapeutic medications.
• Enter physician orders into the medication management system and process them in an unverified status.
• Support pharmacists in reviewing orders and formulating recommendations for physicians and nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.

Required profile

• Successful completion of the NAPLEX and eligibility for an Alaska pharmacy license.
• Enrollment in a pharmacy program or recent graduation seeking clinical experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with physicians, nurses, and patients.

• Compounding of sterile and non‑sterile medications.
• Intravenous medication preparation.
• Total parenteral nutrition (TPN) formulation.
• Chemotherapy agent preparation.
• Use of medication management software.
