Intermediate Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to support the accuracy and integrity of financial operations in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The role focuses on journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and the production of financial statements, while leveraging advanced Excel tools to improve workflow efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Record accounting activity through well‑prepared journal entries and maintain current general ledger balances.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations to ensure balance‑sheet integrity.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reports by organizing and validating data.
• Analyze financial results, identify unusual fluctuations, and investigate discrepancies.
• Participate in month‑end and year‑end close cycles to meet reporting deadlines.
• Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits, tax filings, and compliance requests.
• Reconcile banking, credit‑card, and other key account activity.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting by compiling financial information and performing analysis.
• Utilize advanced Excel tools to build reporting schedules and streamline accounting processes.
• Collaborate with management and cross‑functional teams to address accounting questions and support business needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of core accounting principles, general ledger activity, and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical thinking, problem‑solving ability, and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, and data‑analysis techniques.
• Experience with ERP platforms or other accounting software in a business environment.
