Interdisciplinary Engineer (GS-13)

About the role

The Interdisciplinary Engineer serves as the primary liaison and integrator for engineering efforts within the assigned division, supporting the Engineering and Planning Department (Code 270) of the Department of the Navy. This senior‑level position ensures technical, contractual, and training requirements are met while providing expert guidance during major events and emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as liaison and team integrator to independently resolve engineering issues within the assigned division.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert for the Engineering and Planning Department (Code 270) in meetings and conferences.
• Oversee, evaluate, and manage non‑nuclear engineering programs, projects, and requirements.
• Ensure compliance with technical and contractual requirements.
• Review and evaluate curriculum materials, schedule and administer training.
• Coordinate technical response in support of the command during major events or emergencies.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen and eligible for federal employment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
• Successful completion of a pre‑appointment physical examination and participation in medical surveillance programs.
• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment and work in environments with physical and chemical hazards.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including aboard ships and to remote or isolated sites.
• Must meet time‑in‑grade requirements for GS positions.
