Intensive Case Management Intern (Fall 2026)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an unpaid Intensive Case Management (ICM) Intern for the Fall 2026 term. You will support ICM caseworkers in assisting refugees and other vulnerable clients to meet their basic needs and achieve self‑sufficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Attend intern orientation and ongoing training sessions.
• Assist with client check‑ins by phone or in person.
• Support ICM client intakes, assessments, and documentation.
• Provide transportation to appointments and accompany clients as needed.
• Coordinate with community partners for case referrals and resource navigation.
• Help clients with paperwork, bill payments, mail checks, and system navigation (medical, mental health, education, benefits, etc.).
• Maintain accurate case files in the IRC electronic system and organize digital records.
• Record hours and submit monthly timesheets via the Volunteer Dashboard.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to diverse cultural, religious, and personal backgrounds.
• Interest in working with refugee and humanitarian populations.
• Own a reliable car, valid driver’s license, and insurance.
• Willingness to transport clients and adapt to flexible schedules.
