Intensive Case Management (ICM) Caseworker

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an Intensive Case Management (ICM) Caseworker to support vulnerable refugees, asylees and other ORR‑eligible populations in New York. You will provide strengths‑based, client‑centered case management, helping clients overcome barriers to safety, health and self‑sufficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Determine client eligibility for ICM programming and conduct comprehensive intake assessments.
• Develop individualized, SMART self‑sufficiency plans tailored to each client’s needs.
• Monitor client progress every six months, adjusting plans and identifying new actions as required.
• Assist clients in navigating healthcare, social services and benefits applications, and schedule appointments.
• Conduct community outreach and maintain a robust network of service providers, including refugee and health coordinators.
• Provide extended orientation on topics such as women’s health, transportation systems and other essential services.
• Maintain accurate case records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with program requirements.

Required profile

• Experience working with refugees, survivors of gender‑based violence, older adults, youth, LGBTQ+ individuals, or persons with disabilities.
• Strong ability to conduct assessments, develop service plans and evaluate outcomes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients, colleagues and external partners.
• Commitment to cultural sensitivity, confidentiality and ethical case management practices.
• Flexibility to adapt to evolving client needs and program guidelines.
