Insurance SME – Policy & Claims Labeling (Contract)

About the role

Brain Co. is building AI‑native operating systems for regulated institutions, including the insurance sector. As an Insurance Subject‑Matter Expert (SME) you will work part‑time on a flexible contract to annotate policy and claim documents, review AI‑generated outputs, and help define quality rubrics for machine‑learning pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Label policy tower data by locating limits, interpreting insuring agreements, and structuring coverage conclusions.
• Perform claim‑triage labeling: determine coverage triggers, assess liability strength, interpret litigation stage, and annotate damages.
• Review and validate AI‑generated annotations to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to develop benchmarks and quality standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in excess and specialty insurance; 5+ years preferred.
• Background as an underwriter, broker, claims professional, or coverage counsel in E&S lines.
• Strong written communication skills for producing structured outputs.
• Ability to work independently and manage flexible hours alongside existing commitments.
