About the role
The Lafayette office of Lewis Brisbois is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Insurance Coverage Practice. You will focus on analyzing insurance coverage issues and drafting opinions for first‑party property and general liability matters while supporting litigation efforts.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze insurance policies and coverage language to develop legal opinions.
- Prepare and argue motions, draft pleadings, and conduct legal research.
- Take depositions, attend court hearings, and represent clients in state and federal courts.
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and declaratory‑relief proceedings.
- Collaborate with a team representing primary insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and adjustment companies.
Required profile
- 2–7 years of experience in insurance coverage analysis and litigation.
- Admission to the Louisiana Bar.
- Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated interest in insurance law and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Required skills
- Bar admission in Louisiana.
- Experience drafting coverage opinions and handling complex litigation.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and motion practice.
