Instrumentation‑Electrical (I/E) Technician

About the role

The Instrumentation‑Electrical (I/E) Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining instrument and electrical systems that support AdvanSix’s chemical manufacturing operations. This role ensures critical equipment runs reliably and safely in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair failures of critical equipment, including AC/DC electronics and motor control circuits.
• Use electronic test equipment such as VOMs, oscilloscopes, megger meters, and calibrators to perform troubleshooting.
• Read and interpret electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair PLC and DCS hardware, software, and control systems.
• Maintain 480/240 V three‑phase motor control centers (MCC) and power distribution systems.
• Replace and service electrical control devices (limit, proximity, photo switches) and pneumatic/hydraulic valves.
• Repair instrumentation devices measuring pressure, flow, level, and temperature.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, including conduit bending, wire pulling, and high‑voltage wiring.
• Operate aerial work platforms and move equipment as required.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience working with industrial electrical and instrumentation systems in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to follow electrical codes and safety standards.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with VOM, oscilloscope, megger, and calibrators.
• PLC and DCS hardware/software knowledge.
• AC and DC motor repair and control circuit troubleshooting.
• Experience with 480/240 V three‑phase MCC and power distribution.
• Familiarity with limit, proximity, and photo switches, pneumatic and hydraulic valves.
• Knowledge of pressure, flow, level, and temperature instrumentation.
• Conduit bending, wire pulling, and high‑voltage wiring.
• Operation of aerial work platforms.
