Instrumentation & Electrical Technician

About the role

Veolia is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician to ensure optimal performance of a variety of moderately complex to complex instrumentation and electrical equipment across its North American facilities. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining control systems, sensors, analyzers, motors, pneumatic devices, and programmable controllers while adhering to health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment issues using electrical testers and diagnostic devices.
• Dismantle, replace defective parts, and reassemble instruments to restore functionality.
• Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to resolve problems.
• Maintain accurate work logs and report findings to supervisors.
• Assist in equipment failure analysis and root‑cause investigations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on emergency generators, cathodic protection systems, desiccant air‑handling units, waste‑feed cut‑off devices, and analyzer gas equipment.
• Order spare parts and manage inventory to support ongoing maintenance programs.
• Execute additional duties as assigned to support plant operations.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical fields preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience preferred.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time‑management abilities.
• Customer‑oriented mindset with a focus on safety and compliance.

Required skills

• Electrical troubleshooting and testing.
• Control systems and sensor instrumentation.
• Analyzers, electrical motors, and pneumatic instrumentation.
• Programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Preventive maintenance of generators, cathodic protection, and desiccant systems.
• Waste‑feed cut‑off testing and analyzer gas equipment handling.
• 24‑hour HAZWOPER certification.
