About the role
The Instrument Technician I supports the Perioperative Services Instrument Processing Department at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This entry‑level position ensures that surgical instruments are cleaned, inspected, assembled, and ready for use in a safe and timely manner.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments following established protocols.
- Inspect instruments for damage or wear and perform minor repairs or arrange for service.
- Assemble instrument sets according to surgical case requirements.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and track instrument usage.
- Collaborate with perioperative staff to address instrument needs and resolve issues.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, sterile environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Effective communication skills for teamwork with clinical staff.
