Instrument & Electrical Technician

About the role

We are looking for an Instrument & Electrical Technician to join Celgard’s Maintenance team in Charlotte, NC. The role works the night shift (7 pm‑7 am) on a 2‑2‑3 schedule and reports to the I&E Supervisor. You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the plant’s electrical and instrumentation systems that support battery separator production.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical calibrations and preventative maintenance on power systems, motor drives, and control loops.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical equipment, instrumentation, and related components.
• Use test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, megohmmeters and oscilloscopes safely and accurately.
• Disassemble, clean, reassemble and verify production equipment and instrument installations.
• Support new equipment start‑ups with point‑to‑point verification and update electrical drawings and procedures.
• Operate PIV equipment including forklifts, portable hoists, cherry pickers and one‑man lifts.
• Train maintenance personnel on I&E systems and collaborate with manufacturing teams on continuous‑improvement projects.
• Follow Celgard safety guidelines and contribute to a safe work culture.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or certificate in Electrical Technology preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of industrial instrumentation and electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience with temperature, pressure, tension or flow control loops and exposure to extrusion, lamination, ovens, web coating or automation equipment is a plus.
• Military technical experience in electrical, instrumentation or automation is considered equivalent.
