Instructor – Introductory Biology & Human Physiology

About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at LSU is seeking an Instructor to develop and teach introductory biology laboratory and human physiology courses. The position will start with the creation of a hybrid BIOL 1212 lab and a fully online BIOL 2160 Human Physiology course, followed by regular teaching duties.

Key responsibilities

• Teach the online Human Physiology course (BIOL 2160) each term and up to two introductory biology courses per semester.
• Develop a hybrid online/in‑person introductory biology laboratory (BIOL 1212) and a completely online Human Physiology course during the first year.
• Provide service to the Introductory Biology Program and Department of Biological Sciences, including program assessment and additional course development.
• Participate in departmental duties as assigned by the Associate Chair or Department Chair.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology or a related field.
• At least three years of experience with standard biology laboratory techniques.
• College‑level teaching experience, including experience as a graduate teaching assistant.
• Experience delivering online courses and familiarity with active‑learning and inquiry‑based methods.
• Preferred: PhD in a related discipline and additional experience with multimedia instructional technology.
