Instructor – Academic & Job‑Readiness for Youth

About the role

The Office of Juvenile Justice is looking for a dedicated Instructor to deliver academic, employability, and entry‑level job‑skill courses to youth in secure care at the Bridge City Center for Youth. The role requires creating a structured, positive learning environment that supports rehabilitation and future success.

Key responsibilities

• Teach state‑mandated curriculum, general studies, math, and job‑readiness content.
• Develop lesson plans, prepare learning materials, and adapt instruction for diverse learning styles.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and bi‑weekly performance reports.
• Participate in professional development, trainings, and conferences.
• Collaborate with school and facility staff, serve on committees, and follow OJJ/DOE policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Louisiana teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
• Ability to work effectively with at‑risk youth in a secure setting.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal abilities.
