Instructional Design & Training Manager

About the role

The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an Instructional Design & Training Manager to lead the creation and delivery of high‑quality training programs for staff across the agency. This role reports to the Training Administrator and is part of the training leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop learning experiences, curricula, activities, assignments, and assessments that meet agency, state, and federal standards.
• Lead a team of curriculum developers, ensuring use of instructional design frameworks such as ADDIE or SAM.
• Integrate eLearning components into online, hybrid, and face‑to‑face courses using authoring tools to boost engagement and retention.
• Establish a continuous quality‑improvement process, collect and analyze training data, identify gaps, and implement curriculum redesigns.
• Oversee assessment processes, training delivery observations, and feedback loops for trainer development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and proven training and development experience.
• Successful completion of the agency’s “train‑the‑trainer” program within nine months of hire.
• Familiarity with adult‑learning theory and assessment methods.

Required skills

• Knowledge of instructional design models and frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
• Ability to build eLearning courses using authoring tools.
