Inside Sales Director

About the role

The Inside Sales Director leads the Inside Sales Account Management Department, driving growth and customer satisfaction through phone, email, and other digital channels. Based onsite in Wilmington, the role combines leadership, strategic sales planning, and cross‑functional collaboration within a transportation company.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and mentor Inside Sales Account Managers, setting departmental goals and performance standards.
• Develop and execute strategies to expand existing accounts and acquire new business.
• Oversee lead qualification, solution presentation, follow‑up, and closing activities.
• Monitor key performance indicators, analyze sales data, and report insights to senior leadership.
• Support employee onboarding, succession planning, and staffing needs.
• Coordinate with Outside Sales Account Managers for seamless account transitions.
• Handle escalated customer issues and assist with complex sales negotiations.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading sales teams, preferably in transportation or logistics.
• Strong understanding of transportation operations and ability to collaborate with Operations, Customer Service, Rates, Billing, and other departments.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills with a focus on results.
• Willingness to travel for training, meetings, and customer engagement.

Required skills

• CRM system usage for tracking customer interactions and sales activities.
