About the role
Sandvik is seeking an Industrial Painter to prepare, paint, and detail rotary drilling rigs and components. The role ensures that every rig meets the company’s high standards for quality, appearance, and durability in demanding mining environments.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare rig frames, structures, and components through sanding, cleaning, masking, and surface conditioning.
- Apply primers, topcoats, and specialty coatings using spray equipment, including air‑assisted systems.
- Mix paints and coatings to specification, ensuring correct color, viscosity, and finish quality.
- Install marketing and basic decals on machines.
- Perform touch‑ups, detailing, and cosmetic corrections.
- Inspect work before, during, and after application to meet quality standards.
- Safely operate and maintain painting tools such as sanders, spray guns, pumps, and hoses.
- Complete required documentation and sign‑offs with supervision and quality inspection.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in industrial, manufacturing, automotive, or heavy‑equipment painting.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Experience working in spray booths and using respirators/PPE.
- Ability to pass a company‑required non‑DOT physical examination.
Required skills
- Spray painting using air‑assisted or similar systems.
- Surface preparation (sanding, cleaning, masking).
- Primer and topcoat application.
- Paint mixing to specification.
- Decal installation.
- Use of tape measure for accurate measurements.
