Industrial Engineering Instructor

About the role

Louisiana State University’s Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering seeks a full‑time Instructor to teach undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) program. The position supports the department’s mission to deliver high‑quality engineering education to students in Baton Rouge.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lecture and laboratory courses for the BSIE curriculum, maintaining appropriate class sizes.
• Supervise and train teaching assistants and oversee undergraduate engineering labs, including equipment upgrades.
• Advise students on academic matters and guide senior design projects.
• Participate in departmental service and curriculum development as assigned.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Industrial, Systems, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field (or a Bachelor’s degree with ten years of industry experience).
• Minimum five years of professional experience in industrial engineering practice or education.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and effective classroom management.
