Industrial Engineer

About the role

ABB is hiring an Industrial Engineer in Richmond, Virginia, reporting to the Production Engineering Manager. The role is onsite and focuses on optimizing the production organization's assembly methods, processes and equipment to minimize labor hours in line with quality, efficiency, cost and safety strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Define the working phase sequence of a new production process to meet the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget.
• Ensure production methods, cycle time, equipment performance and materials/components support production targets and project targets.
• Identify and recommend improvements, implement improvement projects within timeframe, quality and cost requirements, and approve designs for internally or externally developed processes after final tests.
• Support production during internal and external process and equipment start-ups, defining action plans and training maintenance and production resources.
• Evaluate new process technologies to improve productivity, quality and cost, leading testing activities, approval criteria and external provider choices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution facility.
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
• Preferred: knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean and 5S, and experience with project management and driving sustainable change.

Required skills

• Strongly preferred: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and SAP (or similar ERPs).
