Industrial Engineer II – Manufacturing Optimization

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Industrial Engineer II to improve manufacturing systems, material flow, capacity utilization and facility layout at its Kalispell, MT location. The role blends industrial engineering expertise with project management to deliver process improvements, support new product introductions and coordinate cross‑functional resources.

Key responsibilities

• Perform methods engineering analysis, including process design, time‑and‑motion studies, work measurement and recommendations for line improvements.
• Lead industrial engineering projects from planning through implementation, using quality tools, process controls and operational readiness activities.
• Develop cost analyses, business cases and ROI calculations to prioritize projects.
• Design and implement facility layouts, material handling systems, staging strategies and space‑optimization solutions.
• Calculate and analyze capacity data for materials, labor, equipment and space to support asset utilization.
• Manage technical projects, track milestones, monitor risks and report status to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
• Experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing systems, capacity planning and facility design.
• Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity and balance competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
