Industrial Designer – Hardware Design for Autonomous Systems

About the role

As the first Industrial Designer on Applied Intuition’s design team, you will tackle complex workflows of software engineers building autonomous machines. You will work closely with cross‑functional partners to create user‑centric hardware solutions that enable physical AI.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design themes for hardware concepts from sketch through prototype to production.
• Build and iterate physical prototypes, incorporating human‑factors considerations.
• Deliver new features on a 5‑week release cadence.
• Communicate design intent using sketches, CAD models, prototypes, CMF strategy, and documentation.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business development on technically complex challenges.

Required profile

• 4+ years of industrial design experience.
• Proven track record prototyping and developing hardware for software‑intensive, fast‑paced environments.
• Keen sense of human factors and ability to translate engineering constraints into intuitive designs.
• Strong capability to start work with incomplete scopes and fragmented information.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human‑Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or a related design field.

Required skills

• CAD (computer‑aided design) proficiency.
• Sketching and concept illustration.
• Physical prototyping techniques.
• CMF (color, material, finish) strategy development.
• Design documentation and specification creation.

What we offer

• Competitive base salary.
• Equity participation (options or RSUs).
• Comprehensive benefits package.
• In‑office work environment with flexibility for occasional remote work.
