Industrial Building Systems Operator

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Industrial Building Systems Operator for its client site in Pearl River, NY. The operator runs, monitors and controls the Building Automation System, performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and HVAC equipment in a pharmaceutical environment, and troubleshoots to an intermediate level. The typical schedule is 12-hour shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Saturday through Friday, on a 3-on-2-off rotating cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS) for alarms and abnormal trends, and respond to them with basic troubleshooting and remediation
• Carry out preventive maintenance inspections and actions such as lubrication, cleaning and filter changes
• Document room environmental deviations, root causes and corrective actions in event reports, and record daily operations and alarms in logbooks
• Perform routine building rounds and keep mechanical rooms clean and organized
• Act as first point of contact for outside contractors on safety work permits and coordinate with security on fire panel alarms
• Service and give feedback on customer work orders, recommend improvements to maintenance methods, and follow safety procedures such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout
• Provide shift coverage when needed and carry out other duties assigned by management or the lead

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0-1 years of experience as a Building System Operator or HVAC maintenance mechanic in an industrial environment, or equivalent education and experience
• US citizenship or permanent residency (sponsorship is not offered)
• Ability to pass a TB test and a medical evaluation for respirator use, obtain a security badge and a driver's license, and pass a background investigation and drug screening
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and scaffolding, and work at an accelerated pace in emergencies

Required skills

• Preferred: troubleshooting BAS/BMS systems (Honeywell, Siemens, Edstrom) and knowledge of building system sequences
• Preferred: HVAC, fire protection, water systems, cGMP, and electrical, mechanical, plumbing and pneumatic troubleshooting
