Indirect Commodity Manager – Composites & Materials

About the role
Saronic Technologies is seeking an Indirect Commodity Manager to lead sourcing strategies for composite materials and related processes. The role focuses on securing raw materials, fabricated structures, and specialized manufacturing processes that support autonomous maritime platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute commodity strategies for composites, including raw materials, fabricated structures, and specialized processes such as lay‑up, curing, machining, and finishing.
- Identify and mitigate sole‑source risks by building dual‑ or multi‑source supplier bases for critical components.
- Lead end‑to‑end sourcing initiatives: supplier identification, RFQ creation, technical evaluation, and contract negotiation.
- Establish supplier capacity plans to support production ramp‑up and long‑term demand.
- Partner with Engineering and NPI teams to conduct 48‑hour scalability assessments covering production rate, quality system maturity, lead‑time, capacity constraints, and ITAR/regulatory compliance.
- Drive prototype‑to‑production transitions, ensuring suppliers meet rate, quality, and cost targets.
- Manage supplier performance through cost, delivery, quality, and responsiveness metrics; lead Supplier Business Reviews and continuous‑improvement programs.
- Analyze market trends, material availability, and cost drivers to inform sourcing decisions and total cost of ownership improvements.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Mechanical/Materials/Aerospace Engineering, Business or related field.
- 5+ years of procurement or sourcing experience, preferably in composites, aerospace, marine, or advanced manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of composite materials and processes (carbon fiber, fiberglass, resin systems, autoclave/OOA processes, tooling).
- Proven track record managing complex supplier relationships and technical sourcing decisions.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to drive cost‑saving initiatives.
