Immigration Intern

About the role

The International Rescue Committee’s Immigration Legal Services program in Utah is seeking an Immigration Intern to support its mission of providing legal representation to refugees and immigrants. Working under the supervision of a Department of Justice‑accredited legal representative, you will gain hands‑on experience in immigration case management while contributing to the organization’s humanitarian impact.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with intake and filing of immigration case files and related documentation.
• Enter case notes and data into the program’s tracking systems.
• Handle administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, texts, emails, and in‑person inquiries.
• Support the legal representative in drafting applications, cover letters, briefs, and other immigration documents.
• Contact clients to convey notices, appointment details, and required documents.
• Conduct legal research on immigration case law and assist with community outreach activities.

Required profile

• Commitment to a minimum of one year, starting September 2025.
• Availability to work at least 10 hours per week on site in Salt Lake City, UT.
• Interest in immigration law and humanitarian work.
