HVAC Technician II – Data Center

About the role

Amentum is looking for an HVAC Technician II to join its operations and maintenance team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role provides an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting and repairing fixtures and systems in a data center environment. Working under minimal supervision as part of a self-directed team, it is a multi-craft position that may include machine repairs and general non-licensed maintenance, and supports other licensed trades. The pay is $22-$26 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance on building equipment and operate and maintain HVAC equipment and systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, air dryers, compressors and other mechanical equipment.
• Carry out preventative maintenance inspections and follow the CMMS schedule.
• Develop and implement planned maintenance procedures, make job estimates, maintain spare parts inventory and keep stock personnel informed.
• Assist in installing, inspecting and servicing new equipment.
• Provide support to co-workers, contractors, vendors, project managers, building managers and engineers on projects and renovations.
• Respond to work orders and give customers feedback, recommending improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Follow safety rules, including job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout and PPE, and use measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience as an HVAC/R maintenance technician in a data center, industrial environment, maintenance shop or manufacturing facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification.
• Ability to work in an aerial or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
• Willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends when needed.

Preferred qualifications

• Journeyman card in HVAC/R (the employer will pay for the certification test if the candidate has the required hours and classroom work).
• Knowledge of facility maintenance.
• Associate degree in HVAC or HVAC certification.
