Humanitarian Expert – UN Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs is seeking a Humanitarian Expert to join a five‑member Panel of Experts supporting the Security Council Sanctions Committee on the Central African Republic. The position is home‑based and will involve frequent regional and international travel.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and investigate alleged violations of UN sanctions related to the Central African Republic.
• Prepare investigative, mid‑term and final reports for the Panel and the Security Council.
• Develop recommendations to improve implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions.
• Compile and analyse information on individuals and entities potentially involved in sanctions breaches.
• Deliver briefings and presentations on the sanctions regime and Panel activities.
• Monitor traditional and social media for issues pertinent to the Panel’s mandate.

Required profile

• Demonstrated substantive knowledge of UN sanctions mechanisms and humanitarian contexts, preferably with experience in the Central African Republic.
• Proven ability to conduct investigations, produce analytical reports and present findings to senior UN officials.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently in economy class as per UN administrative instructions.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
