Human Resources Specialist – Savannah

About the role

The Human Resources Specialist will join the HR team at Savannah Technical College, supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, leave management and compliance. This customer‑focused position provides professional HR services to employees, supervisors and applicants across the college.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment activities, including job postings, screening, interview scheduling and pre‑employment requirements.
• Manage new‑employee onboarding and orientation to ensure a positive experience.
• Process personnel actions and maintain employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
• Assist with benefits administration, enrollment, qualifying life events and open enrollment inquiries.
• Administer employee leave programs such as FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, military leave and other statutory leaves.
• Interpret and explain HR policies, procedures and employment regulations to staff and supervisors.
• Support employee‑relations matters by gathering documentation, preparing correspondence and advising supervisors.
• Facilitate performance‑management and positive‑discipline processes, ensuring compliance with policies.
• Maintain personnel files and ensure records‑retention compliance.
• Compile HR reports and provide data for decision‑making.

Required profile

• Customer‑focused and detail‑oriented professional.
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures and applicable federal and state laws.
• Ability to provide guidance and exceptional service to employees, supervisors and applicants.
• Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, benefits, leave administration and employee‑relations functions.
• Commitment to maintaining compliance with college, state and TCSG policies.
